Blog, Life, + Biz: My Goals for July

Happy July! We’ve officially entered the second half of the year, which I’m pretty excited about. At the same time, it’s also a little crazy because I can’t believe just how quickly the year is flying by. I recently sat down and made a plan where I outlined my focus for the coming months. There are a lot of fun things on the way, which I’m thrilled to eventually share with you all.

However, we don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves! Right now I’m just focused on July and all the things I’d like to accomplish in the weeks ahead. And in true monthly tradition, I’m sharing my goals with you. Here’s what I’ll be working on when it comes to my blog, my personal life, and my business in July:

1. Get back into the habit of blogging consistently.

I’m not sure why, but in recent months I just haven’t been that inspired to create new written content. And as a blogger, it really frustrates me when I don’t have new content to publish. For this reason, one of my main priorities this month is to get back into the habit of blogging consistently. My editorial calendar is already prepared, so all I need to do is actually get to writing.

With that said, there are a lot of amazing posts lined up for July that I know you’re all going to love. You can expect to see regular posts each week throughout the month, so make sure you’re checking back often. After all, you don’t want to miss a new blog post, do you? If there’s anything you’d ever like to see me write about, don’t be afraid to reach out and let me know.

2. Wrap up my content audit.

One of my goals from last month was to begin work on a complete content audit of my website. I wanted to update all of my old blog posts with new content and new images. I also wanted to overhaul the main pages of my site such as my about page and sales pages. This was a project that I started working on, but there’s still a long way to go because there are a lot of posts buried in my archives.

Ideally, this project will be finished by the end of July, but it’s also been a lot more time consuming than I anticipated. Even though it has required a lot of work, it’s still been really enjoyable to go through old posts and give them a much-needed update.

3. Finally launch my YouTube channel.

Remember a couple months ago when I said I was going to launch a YouTube channel? Yeah, about that… One of my biggest struggles when it comes to my business is perfectionism. If something isn’t perfect, I often hold myself back from moving forward on a project. And I ultimately spend a ton of time reworking something that was probably fine to begin with until I’m satisfied with it.

This isn’t one of my finer habits, but I’m sharing this because it’s important to keep it real with all of you. And I know it’s something that many of you deal with as well. That perfectionism has held me back from launching something that I’ve wanted to start up again for years. It’s time to let it go and just put those videos out there. The YouTube channel will launch this month and I’m excited for you all to see it. Plus, another reason I pushed the launch back is that the videos are supposed to coincide with some blog posts that I haven’t been able to write just yet. Those are the posts on the editorial calendar for July though, so now there’s no excuse.

4. Make time for yoga every morning.

Earlier this year, I got into the habit of doing yoga on a daily basis. Unfortunately though, it’s been a while since I’ve made time for yoga in the morning. I’m the kind of person that doesn’t really like a slow start to my day. I prefer to jump out of bed and get going on the things I need to do, otherwise I tend to feel like I’m wasting time. However, I will say that I felt a lot better on the days I did start my morning with even a short yoga routine. It’s a great way to just wake up your mind and body so you can feel energized and ready to take on the day.

on YouTube is definitely a favorite and she has a wide array of yoga routines to choose from. They’ll definitely be my go-to routines for the month ahead. And I think it’ll be the perfect opportunity to put all my new Sweaty Betty gear to use!
