Can you believe it’s already the month of May? Even though it scares me just how quickly this year is flying by (because I feel like I haven’t accomplished nearly enough), I’m always excited at the thought of a brand new month. Although you can get a fresh start any time of the year, the beginning of a month is always a powerful time for me. It’s my opportunity to reflect on what I’ve accomplished so far and set some new goals for myself. It’s the best way for me to stay on track with both business and personal goals.
Unfortunately though, the month of April wasn’t the most productive one for me. There were just a lot of things going on in my personal life and I wound up letting most of my goals from last month get put on the back burner. Also, my great-grandmother fell ill after a brief stay in a nursing home for rehab treatments and passed away within a week. She was 90 years old and someone who I was close to my entire life. In fact, we talked on the phone basically every week day!
It’s always tough to pick up the pieces when things take a turn for the worst in your personal life, but the reality is… You just have to keep pushing forward. You can’t let anything stop you. And that’s what I’m doing this month. I’m committing even more to focusing on my blog and business so I can get caught up with the goals I wanted to accomplish this year.
1. Publish at least four videos to my YouTube channel.
One of my goals for April was to launch a YouTube channel. For those of you who have been following along since my fashion blogging days, you may recall that I actually had a YouTube channel back then. It’s something I always really enjoyed and I’ve wanted to introduce video for this business for a very long time now.
Last month, I began setting up my channel (but it still needs some work — channel art!) and I even filmed a channel trailer. The trailer video still needs a little bit more work, so the channel will officially launch this month instead. I’m really looking forward to diving into this and offering a new content type for you all.
2. Commit to my email marketing strategy.
With how crazy things got over the past month, I definitely slacked off on my email marketing. This month, it’s time to dive back into that. This means sending regular newsletters again and also creating a new opt-in for my email list to continue to gain subscribers.
Creating the new opt-in was actually on my goals list for last month, but I’ll be honest… I forgot all about it! If I don’t remember to write it down in my planner and actually schedule time to work on something, it can get lost. I did, however, come up with a new idea for my email opt-in. All I need to do now is create it and put it out there for all of you to enjoy. (If you’re already on my list, you’ll receive access as well. Don’t worry!)
3. Get back to work on a passion project.
There’s a passion project that’s been on my mind for many years now, but it was never high-priority back then. I didn’t think it was the right time to work on this project and I focused on other things instead. I actually decided to begin work on it around this time last year, but never finished it.
And I actually think it’s a good thing I didn’t fully commit back then. Why? Because I ended up rebranding in November. If I had committed to this project a year ago, it would have had a different name that I wouldn’t have been all that happy with. I finally feel like I’m in a good place with my brand that I can revisit this project and the ideas I had already come up with and begin moving forward on it.
Stay tuned to find out more! I’ve been a bit secretive about this one because I worried that if I put it out there that it wouldn’t come together how I had envisioned. As long as everything goes well, this project will see the light of day.
4. Stick to the Tone It Up Bikini Series.
One week ago, I committed myself to join the Tone It Up Bikini Series and commit to it. Getting healthier and being in better shape is so important to me. Not only is it essential in helping me to feel better each and every day, I know it’s also doing great things for my thyroid health. (I have an autoimmune thyroid disease.)
At the time of writing this, we’re just one week into the challenge. I’ve been committed and working out regularly. I love the new premium workouts Karena and Katrina have put together for Beach Babe 5. And I’ve also been incorporating some of the meals from their nutrition plan into my daily life. It really makes a huge difference!
Last Month’s Goals
-
Maximize my productivity by scheduling my days in advance.
This is one thing I have done throughout the month of April, but not consistently. There were some days I was very dedicated to planning out my days and others where I just went with the flow and worked on whatever I felt like at any given time. And you know what? That’s okay! It’s certainly helped to keep me on track with various tasks I have on a daily basis. And it’s a habit I’d like to continue for this month.
- Create a new opt-in for my email list. As mentioned, this new email opt-in didn’t come to fruition during April, so I’ve pushed it to this month.
- Launch a YouTube channel. Although I worked on my YouTube channel in April and made plans for videos, I didn’t launch it just yet. There’s still some tasks to take care of before I can launch it and I need to get to a place where I’m happy with my channel trailer video. However, it will be launching this month.
- Read at least one new book to boost my business. It’s safe to say reading didn’t take place in April. Oops!
